Started in July 1949 by the late Tan Sri S.M. Yong, the National Shooting Association of Malaysia shared the same premise as SSA whose range was a wooden shed with zinc roofing, nestled next to a mining pool in Jalan Gurney, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
