NSAM Stays Relevant

The National Shooting Association of Malaysia prefers to stay relevant and because of this philosophy, it has always stayed in tune with the ever-changing shooting environment. == From its modest beginning in 1949 to its present dynamism today, NSAM’s evolution is indeed fascinating. == Its ability to govern the sport consistently, adapt to changing trends, stay flexible with development and maintain a degree of integrity with its finances, is a genuine reflection of dedication to shooting, a unique discipline to stay upright and a poignant vision to give direction and leadership to the sport. == Within a short span of 54 years, NSAM has established direct connection and affiliation with the International Shooting Sports Federation (ISSF) and regional bodies such as SEASA, ASC, Asian Clay Shooting Federation (ASCF), as well as to almost all the States in Malaysia. == NSAM has moved on with the times, that is from the old days of manual changing of targets to the current rhythm of electronic devices and multimedia innovations as were witnessed at the 16th Commonwealth Games that were held at the ultra-modern International Shooting Range at Langkawi. == National shooters have taken part in the various World Cups, Olympics, regional as well as national championships. In all of these were possible by the active involvement of NSAM. == Shooting, spearheaded by the NSAM, has evolved from simplicity to flexibility and now stands with enough clout, commitment and force to face the challenges of the new millennium and beyond. == Officials, apart from the three presidents, who have served NSAM with distinction are Chia Woh, Moo Foo Keat, Chan Chee Hong, the late Edmund Yong, Adam Tee, Dato’ J.J. Raj Jr, Ong Hoon Chin, Chu Pu Yam, Major Jasni Shaari, Col Abu Bakar Baba, Puan Muzli Mustakim, Richard Tan, Freddie Choong, Police DSP Ishak Hashim, Chok Lee Huat, Benson Low and Saw Cheng Wah . == NSAM is also indebted to the late Syed Mokhtar, a senior police officer. He was a keen shooter and after his retirement, he became actively involved in organising local championships. == NSAM has high esteem of the current OCM secretary general Mr Sieh Kok Chi with esteem. He has unselfishly imparted his vast knowledge in sports management and development to NSAM. == Kok Chi commands respect from everyone in NSAM and he has given useful advice to NSAM with regards to the organization of the 1998 Commonwealth Games, the 2000 ASC, the 2001 Sea Games and now the 2004 ASC.
