1.
Accord
total respect to every gun whether it’s loaded or otherwise. This is the
cardinal rule of a gun safety. 2.
Carry
only empty guns but not the ammunitions purchased from the armoury into your car. 3.
Always
be sure that the barrel and action are clear of obstructions. 4.
Always
carry your gun so that you can control the direction of the muzzle, even if
you stumble. 5.
Never
pull the trigger unless you are absolutely sure of your target. 6.
Never
point a gun at anything you do not want to shoot. 7.
Never
leave your gun unattended unless you unload it first. 8.
Never
climb tree or fence with a loaded gun. 9.
Never
shoot at a flat and hard surface or at any water surface. 10.
Do
not mix gun-powder with alcohol. Clay pigeon section: 1.
No
cartridge, live or fired, or snap caps (dummy cartridge with a
spring-cushioned cap) shall be loaded into any weapon at the range, other
than as follows:- a.
At
the firing point when ordered to load or at the firing point when the next
firer before you is loaded for firing. b.
When
a member of the Committee is present and a weapon is being checked. c.
When
putting away the gun, snap caps are placed inside to ease the springs; in
this case, the member shall walk away to the side of the range, clear of all
persons and deliberately aim his gun at the ground six feet and then snap the
trigger. 2.
Any
person carelessly handling a gun on the range, even though it is unloaded,
shall be called to order by any member and if necessary by a committee member
who shall suspend the offender forthwith and he shall be called before a
meeting of the committee. 3.
No
gun shall be pointed at any person. Any person wishing to test his grip and
lift the gun, etc. shall do so with permission, from the Captain (facing down
the trap or stop butts) and then do his tries. 4.
Any
gun being carried about on the ranges shall be:- a.
If
double - or single-barreled, be broken and opened) If an auto, then the
breach will be BACK. This applies equally when changing posts at the firing
point. 5.
Guns
will be closed by the following methods only:- a.
Break
Back Type: by raising the butt at the barrels. b.
Auto:
by releasing the breach under hand control. This applies also to the
completion of the loading. 6.
An
order to UNLOAD will be complied with INSTANTLY. 7.
All
firers on the firing point, when ordered to unload, will unload theirs guns
and will call "Clear Here" to the supervisor before moving off, and
whilst still facing forward. 8.
No
detail shall ever be shot without some members being present, e.g. the firing
point supervisor. 9.
Failure
to arrive at the firing point to shoot within a reasonable time when their
names are being called, will result in forfeiture of
the right to shoot in that practice or event. 10.
Gun
testing at testing targets shall be done only under the supervision of
captain or committee member. |
